The ‘Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises’(PMFME) is an initiative under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ that promotes make in India. It is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to foster and promote the Micro Food business by providing capital, credit, infrastructure, technology and employment etc to Small entrepreneurs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Local manufacturers like Self Help Groups(SHGs) and producer co-operatives with the aim to boost the overall growth of this industry in India.
What Is The PMFME Scheme?
It is a scheme launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). It seeks to increase the competitiveness of the micro-business in the unorganized sector of the food processing industry and extended support to the Producers Cooperatives, Self Help Groups (SHGs), and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
What Are The Special Features Of PMFME Scheme?
It is a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
This scheme provides credit link subsidies to two lakh micro food processing units.
The scheme aims to provide and support sufficient institutional architecture and shared infrastructure to boost the growth in this sector.
It seeks to strengthen the institution, research and training centers in the food processing sector by increasing accessibility and availability of shared services such as laboratories, storage, packaging, marketing, incubation, and common processing facility and also seeks to enhance professional and technical support.
It aims to support one district one product by supporting individual micro enterprises and self help groups to promote locals goods and products
It provides many financial aid like 35% credit linked grant as per project cost, Rs. 40,000/- seed capital and upto Rs. 4 lakh for purchase of small tools.
What are the eligibility guidelines For the PMFME Scheme?

The eligibility criteria for this scheme is as follows:
- The applicant should be above the age of 18 years.
- Address proof of the proposed or the existing business. It is mandatory to have the Ownership/ rental/ lease right of the enterprise.
- The existing business/enterprise or food units should be verified by the survey or by the resource person.
- The applicant should have the bank account in the district of the proposed business/ enterprise.
- There in no requirement of minimum turnover and experience of the applicant business/enterprise.
- This scheme provides financial aid to Individual entrepreneurs, small proprietorship and partnership Firms, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Cooperatives, SHGs under individual category or common infrastructure category.

What Are The Documents Required To Avail PMFME Scheme?
The documents required are as follows:
- Particulars of the applicant, promoters and guarantors providing its proof of identity (Aadhaar card, PAN Card etc)
- Particulars of Residential address (Utility bills (not more than two months old), Bank passbook/statement for the last six months and property or paid receipt of property or municipality tax etc).
- The address proof of the proposed or the existing business/enterprise along with the ownership proof, lease agreement and for rented premises a NOC from owner and the Rental agreement.
- Bank details of the proposed/existing business or enterprise.
- Financial details of existing business/enterprise or of proposed business/enterprise like balance sheet, profits, expenditure, cost quotation of the machinery, GST etc.

Step By Step Guide To Register In The PMFME Scheme
The registration procedure in PMFME scheme is as follows:
Step 1: Registration in PMFME Portal
Go to the https://pmfme.mofpi.gov.in/pmfme/#/Register-New-User and register yourself. Enter the basic details like, name, contact, email, address etc. A password and User ID would be generated after registration.
Step 2: Fill Detailed project Report (DPR)
Go to https://pmfme.mofpi.gov.in/pmfme/#/Login and use your User ID and password to log and proceed to fill the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Step 3: Applicant details.
Submit the necessary details of the Applicant like name, email, contact etc.
Step 4: Proposed business details
Submit the necessary details of the proposed/existing business as inquired in the portal.
Step 5: Proposed Financial details
Provide the necessary details with respect to cost of business operation, machinery costs, building type, expenditure, working capital requirement, profits etc.
Step 6: Lending bank details.
Provide the details of the bank from which the applicant wants to avail the loan facility.
Step 7: Upload documents
Upload all the required documents for the DPR and proceed.
Step 8: Declaration.
After reviewing your application proceed to declare the application and enter submit.
